Permitted development gives homeowners certain rights when it comes to modifying their existing property without needing to apply for planning permission. The government has set guidelines to help us know what can be classed as permitted development and these can be found on the link below. A general rule of thumb is that any changes you wish to make to the front of a property on the principal elevation, unless it's a small porch that follows the rules as set out by the government, will need planning permission. Anything else? It's highly possible that you won't need a planning application for the development saving you time and money. Get in touch with us if you would like any assistance in seeing whether your project could be classed as permitted development.
